Class Discussion on Structure and What to Expect
Objectives and goals for today's class, and upcoming classes, were outlined. Students learned what is expected from them, as well as what they can expect from the instructor.
Assessment
Cambridge English Language Assessment used in class to determine their fluency and language skill status. Parts 1 through 3 were assigned and completed by each student. Problems and target areas were discussed and worked out. The class assessment indicated students are at the Intermediate level. Our upcoming class lessons are for intermediate skills and will build on and enhance the students current skills.
Writing Assignment
"Sentence Starters"
Instructor wrote several sentence starters on the board. Students instructed to read each sentence to themselves and write their answers down on a sheet of paper. After students completed writing, they read the completed sentences aloud in class. Our class discussed each question to enhance listening and reading comprehension skills.
Looking Ahead
Instructor outlined the agenda for the upcoming weeks. Informed that students will have a combination of verbal and written activities focusing on social and academic dimensions of language.
Homework
Students are to select a movie or song to listen to. After listening to the movie or song, students are to write down words or phrases that they like and that they do not understand. Students are to bring the written words and phrases to class so we may discuss them in class on Monday December 14th.
