Listening Comprehension
Open Mic Night
Students took a few minutes to watch a stand up comedy performance and then reenact an open mic night. Students could use the time to do stand-up comedy, sing, or recite poems. They took a minute to outline their topic before presenting. Class discussed the benefit of open mic night, which strengthened their language comprehension skills.
Speaking
Worked on vocabulary building, phrases, and articles with our class worksheets. Had class discussion after worksheets completed to help strengthen students speaking skills.

Students read articles out loud in class to strengthen their reading and speaking skills.
Writing
Up in Arms
Students assigned writing prompt to help strengthen their current writing skills.
Think a moment on the current events going on about gun control and regulation. What are your thoughts and opinions on President Obama's current proposal for strengthening gun control. Write a short essay providing your thoughts on what's going on.
- 12 Complete sentences
- Correct punctuation, spelling, capitalization, BME format
- 4 Vocabulary words (underline vocabulary words)
- After students completed their writing, they shared their writing in class.
Class discussed objectives for the next class and went over any questions the students had.
